10 Easy Rice Cooker Recipes

You can cook so many different rice dishes in your rice cooker. With a rice cooker you can cook the perfect rice every time with zero expertise! What’s more? Did you know your rice cooker can also cook so many other beautiful dishes besides rice! Here’s a list of recipes you can try:

Long Grained Rice:

Long Grained Rice

  1. Rinse the rice and drain the water.
  2. Add the rice and 1.5 parts water into the rice cooker.
  3. You can seasonings like salt and butter.
  4. Place the lid and turn the rice cooker on.
  5. When the rice is ready let it sit in the cooker for 10 minutes with the lid on.

Farro:

Farro

  1. Soak 1 cup of farro for 8 hours.
  2. Rinse the farro and drain the water.
  3. Add the farro and 3 cups of water to the rice cooker.
  4. Set the timer to 45 minutes and turn it on.
  5. Serve when the timer goes off.

Simple Brown Rice:

Simple Brown Rice

  1. Rinse 2 cups of brown rice.
  2. Add rice and 3 cups of water to the rice cooker and let it soak for 45 minutes.
  3. Add salt if desired.
  4. Set the timer for 30 minutes.
  5. After this time, leave the lid on for 5 minutes for the rice to absorb the water completely.
  6. You can season it with butter and/or soya sauce before serving.

Brown Rice Porridge:

Brown Rice Porridge

  1. Rinse ¾ cup brown rice.
  2. Add the rice and 5 cups water to rice cooker.
  3. Set the timer for 6 hours.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and cook 1 cup sliced mushrooms, 1 sliced carrot and 2 minced garlic cloves for a couple of minutes.
  5. When the rice is ready, add the vegetables and combine everything.
  6. Serve the porridge garnished with soya sauce, green onions and/or boiled egg.

Brown Rice with Lentils

  1. Rinse ¾ cups lentils and ¾ cups brown rice.
  2. Add lentils and brown rice to rice cooker with 4 cups water.
  3. You can add seasonings.
  4. Cover the lid and cook for 35 minutes.
  5. Serve when done.

Sushi Rice:

Sushi Rice

  1. Rinse 3 cups of medium grained rice and drain.
  2. Set it aside to dry.
  3. Transfer it to rice cooker and add an equal amount of water.
  4. Close the lid and turn on the rice cooker.
  5. In a bowl, mix ½ cup rice vinegar, 2 tbsp of sugar and 2 tsp of salt.
  6. Take the rice out in a plate and pour the seasoning over it.
  7. Mix it well.

Rice Cooker Bread:

Rice Cooker Bread

  1. Add 5 g yeast, a pinch of salt and ¼ cup warm water to a bowl. Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes.
  2. Add 2.5 cups flour, 1.5 tsp salt and 1.5 tbsp sugar to the rice cooker.
  3. Add 30 ml milk and the yeast mixture to the cooker.
  4. Knead to form dough.
  5. Allow to sit for an hour with the cooker set to warm setting.
  6. Bake for an hour, flip and bake for another hour.

Steamed Fish:

Steamed Fish

  1. Wash the fish and rub salt over it.
  2. Cut some celery leaves, some strips of ginger and chop garlic.
  3. Place fish n a plate that fits in the rice cooker.
  4. Sprinkle celery, ginger garlic on the fish.
  5. Place the plate into the rice cooker with rice and water beneath it to cook rice at the same time.
  6. Add some sesame oil and soya sauce to the fish.
  7. Cook until rice is done and let sit for 10 minutes inside the rice cooker before serving.

Chili Con Carne:

Chili Con Carne

  1. Heat oil in a pan and brown 1 pound of ground turkey meat.
  2. Add it to the rice cooker.
  3. Add the contents of a can of Rotel into the rice cooker.
  4. Fill the empty can with water and add it to the cooker.
  5. Add chili seasoning.
  6. Turn on the cooker and cook for 10 minutes.

Pancakes:

Pancakes

  1. Beat 2 eggs in a bowl.
  2. Add 2 cups flour, ½ tsp baking powder and 5 tbsp sugar to the eggs.
  3. Add 2 tbsp melted butter and 1 ½ cup milk and mix.
  4. Preheat rice cooker and brush with oil.
  5. Pour 3 tbsp of batter into the cooker.
  6. Cook till one sides become golden.
  7. Flip and cook the other side.
